Playing Your Cards Right: Decision Making Lessons from Management Theory and Poker
In a time of global chaos and uncertainty, making the right organisational decisions at the right time becomes even more critical. As managers and leaders, we tend to make decisions based on our personality style and our preferences for action. Instead, we should make decisions to reflect the realities of the current business environment and the cards we hold in our hand.
This session features a unique combination of business theory, design thinking and poker tournament strategy. You’ll learn how to apply the Cynefin Decision Theory model to assess your current business environment—the table your currently playing at. Then you’ll learn how some companies have thrown away a winning hand, how others have bet big on the perfect hand, and how others have bluffed their way to success. You’ll use a design thinking approach to consider how you could play the cards you have now to address your most pressing challenges.
